The creation of a register of companies in UK
On the first of May 2018 an amendment was passed by the British parliament to allow the creation of a register of companies and other entities established in the islands (Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands or Turks and Caicos Islands…) as well as in the Caribbean.
These territories will have to create this register before 2020.
The desire to create such a register is part of the fight against money laundering and tax evasion.
The creation of this register should allow to identify some so-called ” société écran ” also called empty shell (coquilles vides).
However the creation of this register is only a half-success since this register will not concern certain territories such as jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of man, this register will not concern the Trust, for the moment.
